Adam Nelson Interview

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your journey in music so far? My name is Adam. I was
born and raised in a small town in Montana called Columbia Falls. It is well known as the Gateway to
Glacier Park for those interested in nature. I have been composing music ever since I was a very young
child. My earliest compositions were done in GWBasic on a Tandy 1000SX computer, and then I
purchased a Sound Blaster Card for my parents 486 and used an old program called Music Printer Plus. I
then in Junior High got a Korg X3, and made compositions on that and used a D8 for doing vocals and
guitars. I use to carry it around in an old granny suitcase, so it didn’t get stolen. Eventually I kept
evolving with computers and now I operate on my home studio which is PC based, and running Cubase,
which is still one of my favorite DAWs.

2. What inspired your latest track, *Bring the Beat*? It just evolved one night in a studio session. I
found a patch that almost sounded vocal, but not, and I thought it would be fun to play it as if it was a
vocal line.

3. How does this single differ from your previous work? I would say that I have a hard time narrowing
myself to one style or genre. I like to write in a whole spectrum of music. Things that tickle my auditory
senses.

**Creative Process:**
4. Walk us through the production of *Bring the Beat*—how did the idea come to life? As stated
before, I was playing around in my studio, and I had a strong beat/musical comp going, and was looking
for a lead, and found the one I played with, and turned it into almost a vocal track.

5. Did you collaborate with any producers, writers, or artists on this track? Not with this track. I desire
to work with others though. I would love to collab with all kinds of folks to see what we could create. If
so, how did that influence the final product? NA
6. Were there any challenges you faced while creating this song? Not really, It was a pretty fluid and
flowing production. It came along nicely without any major struggles.

**Musical Style & Influences:**
7. How would you describe the sound and vibe of *Bring the Beat*? A friend called it New Modern
Synthwave. I would say it has a strong proud feel, and really gets your head bobbing. The strong guitars
give it some backbone, and the synth progressions I played give it the flare and Pomp.

8. Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and do they shine through in this track? I listen to
a lot of different folks, so I’m sure that they all influence me. Some of my favorite artists are Twenty
One Pilots, Honey Revenge (lately), Bring Me the Horizon, Loveless.

9. What do you hope listeners take away from this song? My ultimate hope is that they will try to
stream or buy it for themselves, and suggest their friends give it a listen, but mostly I just want them to
walk away with a sense of solidarity and enjoyment from the tone and rhythm of the track

**Behind the Scenes:**
10. Is there a specific message or story behind *Bring the Beat*? Not really just kind of makes you feel
like you can do anything when listening to it.

11. What was your favorite part of making this track? I really enjoyed playing some of the licks you hear
in this track, and creating the vocal feel, and the breaks and bring backs.

12. Did you experiment with any new sounds or techniques in this production? Yes, The vocal type
lead, which I also use in the sister track Ride the Wave.

**Future Plans:**
13. Can fans expect more music in a similar style soon? Oh Yeah, I compose all the time. I’ve got
projects that are not released yet, and hoping to collab with other amazing folks. Especially talented
vocalists. I’d love to layer some sweet vocals on to some of my great tracks.

14. Are there any upcoming projects or performances you’d like to share? For sure check out my four
latest album releases. My Heart is on the Floor is a collab album I did with an incredible talented Cellist
named Jesse Ahmann. Then my three instrumental releases are Metallic Luster (More heavy guitars and
driven tracks), Electric Sync (Has Bring the Beat and Ride the Wave), and Orchestral Nostalgia which the
title explains pretty well.

15. Where do you see your sound evolving in the next few years? The sky isn’t the limit, the universe
is. Who knows what wonderful stuff will flow from my mind through my fingers and into the tools and
instruments that I currently own, and will purchase as they are developed.

**Fun & Personal:**
16. If you had to describe *Bring the Beat* in three words, what would they be? Pride Dancing March
17. What’s your go‐to song or artist to get energized before a performance? Depends on the gig that I
am doing. Lol
18. What’s one thing fans might be surprised to learn about you? My day job is running a computer
sales and service shop in my home town.

**Closing:**
19. Where can fans stream or buy *Bring the Beat*? At all major streaming and purchase platforms
(Apple, Spotify, Amazon, SoundCloud)
20. Any final words for your supporters? “. I’m just extremely thankful for people other than myself
and family to enjoy and move their bodies to tracks and music I create. I hope to auditorily please
people all over the world.
