SlowRepeat 12/1/2025
Written by ideamagazine on December 1, 2025

1.Slowrepeat started as Ben’s solo
experiment back in 2020. Can you walk us
through how that early vision transformed
into the fully formed band you are today with
Yair and Yotam?
Ben: In 2020, I started the project alone.
After releasing the first EP, I brought in
temporary musicians.
Then I realized I needed to form a permanent
lineup for both performances and the creative
process. Yair joined before the album Abra
Cannbra, and Yotam joined after its release.
Since then, we’ve been together.
2. What originally drew you to the stoner
doom and heavy psychedelic genres, and
how did your sound begin to take shape?
Ben: It all started because of Black Sabbath.
My love for this kind of music began at the
age of 12–13, and only a decade later, when
I was already smoking weed and listening to
bands like Sleep and Electric Wizard, did I
realize that this was the sound I was looking
for and wanted
THE NEW SINGLE –
“SINGULARITY”
3. “Singularity” is the first look at your
upcoming album Aqua Haze. What was the
inspiration behind this track, both musically
and conceptually?
Yotam: We were listening to a lot of
Mephistopheles at the time the riffs and vibe
are inspired by their awesome groove. The
lyrics revolve around AI and its enormous
and sudden influence in the world. The
power to corrupt and stagnate, or to perhaps
save us from ourselves?
4. The song blends fuzz-drenched doom with
Middle Eastern flavorings like bouzouki
tones. How did you develop that fusion, and
what does it add to the overall atmosphere of
the song?
Yotam: I think middle eastern vibes mix well
with doom and stoner metal. The popular
scales often used in middle eastern music
add a sense of mystery and intrigue. The
bouzouki was a way to incorporate some of
that intrigue into the album, it’ll pop up in
several songs…
5.Was there a specific moment in the studio
when you knew “Singularity” would be the
lead single?
Yotam:Probably after the first time we played
from the beginning and to the end together
and all felt that we came up with something
dope. Its also super fun to play so…
AQUA HAZE – THE ALBUM
6. Aqua Haze drops January 23, 2026. How
would you describe the album as a whole to
listeners hearing your music for the first
time?
Yotam: It’s very atmospheric, in part thanks
to Craig who mixed the album and
added some of his magic. Some songs are
low and slow and then others are rock ‘n’ roll
and groovy. Our main goal is to get as many
heads banging to this
7. You recorded under the “scorching
Mediterranean skies”—how did the
environment influence the writing or
recording process?
We’re definitely inspired by our surroundings,
but I think inner band dynamics played a
bigger part in shaping this album. We listen
to similar music and throw out ideas to each
other, hopefully the good ones stuck .
8. What themes or emotions does Aqua
Haze explore? Is there a conceptual thread
running through the record?
Yotam:Not really conceptual, I think most of
the songs capture very specific parts of our
lives. Exodus for example was written during
Passover, inspired by the biblical tale.
Singularity deals with the hot topic today, AI,
a bit of paranoia, some hope, some despair.
9. The next single, “Renewal,” arrives in
December. Why did you choose that track as
the follow-up to “Singularity”?
Ben:I connect deeply to this song. Its lyrics
were written during a complex period for me,
and the crazy solo that Ehud Danan played
in it led us to release it as the second single.
SONIC IDENTITY & INFLUENCE
10.. Fans of Electric Wizard, Acid King, and
Elder are already connecting with your
sound. Who are the artists or genres—inside
or outside doom—that have shaped your
musical identity most?
Ben: I love and am influenced by many
genres and bands like Zakk Wylde, Matt
Pike, Jaus Oburn, Tony Iommi, Lori Joseph,
Tool, Meshuggah, Yehuda Poliker and
more… And that’s how I’m inspired to this
day, the music is endless and so are the
inspirations.
11.The Middle Eastern and Mediterranean
elements in your music set you apart in the
stoner doom world. Do you approach
those cultural influences intentionally or do
they emerge naturally during writing?
Ben: I live in the Middle East, and I absorb
many musical influences – Greek, Turkish,
and Arabic. I feel that these influences come
naturally to me and are part of the character
of our writing and music
BAND DYNAMICS & CREATION
12. How does the songwriting process
typically unfold for Slowrepeat? Is it riff-
driven, jam-based, or more structured?
Yotam: For me it always starts with a riff. The
riff evolves and evolves and starts to take
shape when Yair adds a groove. Lyrics are
often the last thing I’ll do in the song.
13.Ben, as the project’s founder, how has
your role evolved now that Slowrepeat is a
full collaborative band effort?
Ben: This process makes things easier for
me because, although I’m the founder and
main songwriter, the combination of Yair and
Yotam inspires me musically and also takes
me out of the spotlight. I’m not someone who
likes being at the center, and for me, it’s
important that what’s at the center is the
music, not the person
MASTERING & PRODUCTION
14. Craig Lauinger at Mix Cave Mastering
handled the mastering on “Singularity.” What
was that collaboration like, and how did his
touch elevate the track?
Ben: Craig is a friend, not just a colleague
for five years now. Craig contributed the
atmosphere and precision in the right
sounds; he knows how to get it right and
understands me and the character I want the
music to have
Yair: We have worked with Craig in the past
so we already knew what he’s capable of,
and what we wanted to achieve. It was pretty
quick and straightforward actually. We’re
pretty much sent him the tracks, he mixed,
mastered and added synths and’s sounds
effects, and I don’t remember us having any
changes we wanted we’re pretty much liked it
straight away
15. Were there any production
experiments—amps, pedals, recording
techniques—that shaped the tone of the
album?
Ben: Yes, my Marshall amps and my pedals

LIVE EXPERIENCE
16. Slowrepeat’s music has a hypnotic,
ritualistic quality. How do you translate that
energy to the stage?
Yotam: We love preforming and are often
infected with the energy from the crowd. I
noticed that we often play our songs a little
faster when we’re live and I think the
audience digs it. We love looking out and
seeing a sea of heads banging in rhythm
17. What can fans expect from your
upcoming live shows as you gear up for
the Aqua Haze album cycle?
Ben: A week before the album release, we
will open for “The Great Machine”. Two
weeks later, we will perform at StonerFest 6.
A week after that, we will perform at an
album launch show and host Ehud Danan
LOOKING AHEAD
18. With Aqua Haze arriving in early 2026,
what are your goals for this new era of
Slowrepeat?
Yair: Our main goals are to continue perform
as much as we can- maybe even do some
show outside of Israel, and make new and
improved music for everyone, as we always
try
19. Are there any international touring plans
or festival appearances you’re hoping to line
up?
Yair: Right now we have a few shows lined
up, like the upcoming Stonerfest. We are
talking about doing some international shows
but nothing we can tell about right now
20. Finally, what do you hope listeners feel or
experience the first time they press play on
“Singularity”?
Ben: A connection and love for this music,
and within this spiritual vibe, they will also
find their own soul.
