Stella Prince!

1. “What’s a common myth about Independent Artists and can you debunk it?”
Something I think people don’t know is that independent artists do SO MUCH themselves. It really is a full time job, from doing social media, booking and organizing your tours, to releasing singles and sometimes even being your own publicist or distributor.  It’s like 30 full time jobs in one.
2. “What advice would you give to someone wanting to enter the music industry?”
Study your idols and make note of everything they did that you want to do in your lifetime. Read their memoirs, articles about them, note everything that they did well. Also note the mistakes they made. Create a vision board or a life plan of everything you want to accomplish.  Be very strategic about the things you want to do.
3. “Are there any resources or even advice that have really helped you on your journey?”
I discovered the Ken Burns Country Music Documentary during the pandemic and was so inspired by dozens of artists I had never heard of before. It changed the kind of music I wanted to listen to.
4. “What has been your biggest accomplishment in your career thus far?”
Performing at venues where my biggest inspirations have played has been amazing. Cactus Cafe in Austin where Emmylou Harris performed, to Bitter End in NY where Joni Mitchell performed.
5. “What do you wish you had known when you started out?”
Everything is going to take a lot longer than you ever planned.
6. “What led you to becoming a singer-songwriter?”
I always knew this was something I was meant to do, from the time I was 4 years old.

7. “What do you think is your unique skill(s) that has helped you become successful?”

I try to make my song lyrics very relatable.  Writing things about experiences I’ve had like loneliness, fear, etc, are things I know others have gone through as well.
8. “How was your journey to what you do Now?”
I’ve been surprised to learn how up and down the music world is.
9. “How did this project begin?”
I’ve never done a full album project before. This has been a long time coming. Something I’ve been dreaming about for years.
10. “What makes this project different from “past projects?”
I’ve never shared so many songs before! The biggest project I’ve done in the past was a six song EP, never a full length album.
11. “What’s the inspiration behind this project?”
At 18, my generation is just starting to go out into the real world and have all these experiences of growing up.
12. “What word or phrase would you use to describe this project?”
13. “How can listeners get in touch with or support you?”
@stellaprincemusic on all platforms!
14. “What is coming up for you in the near future?”
I’m planning a tour for the fall across New York and Boston, and then hopefully I’ll be heading to the UK in October!
15. “Many people believe that becoming a musical artist is challenging to the point it
becomes overwhelming and too much to handle. Why do you think people believe that?”
It’s a LOT to handle all at once. There’s a hundred things being thrown at you 24/7. It’s almost impossible not to feel overwhelmed at all times.
16. “What’s the most common reason for people failing or giving up?”
If they don’t receive success quickly. It’s hard to work this intensely and not receive more fame or success early on. It’s hard to wait.
17. “What is your favorite word?”
18. “What are you not very good at?”
19. “If you could have one superpower, what would it be?”
Healing people.
20. “If you were a type of food, what type of food would you be?”
Ice cream. It makes people happy!
21. “If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would you choose?”
Any one of my three favorite singers. Patsy Cline, Judy Garland, Karen Carpenter.
