Los Angeles bass-and-drums duo Paradise Vultures creates a sound that can best be described as dirty, doomy, desert disco. Recently, the pair, comprised of bassist and vocalist Tommy Senter and drummer Matty Barreca, announced their single/video “Catacombs,” ahead of a string of new content to come throughout 2024. According to Senter, “‘Catacombs’ is about the intoxicating drive to search for a messiah in all the wrong places; to submit to a pleasant fantasy over the grim realities of life. Lyrically, ‘Catacombs’ was inspired by the overwhelming surplus of charismatic grifters telling people that they (and only they) know the path to curing what ails you and that they alone can offer you salvation through some means or another. Existence is a frightening thing to navigate, and there is no shortage of cynical wolves in sheep’s clothing lurking at the fringes of society, promising that their “answer” is going to be the one to save you.”Watch “Catacombs”
