Previously releasing material under the name Digital Array,<br \/>\nthey have since rebranded as Pharmacose\u2013 a portmanteau of \u201cpharmaceutical\u201d and \u201ccomatose.\u201d Jones,<br \/>\na Memphis native who played bass in Chicago pop-punk band Cuddle Riot, formed Pharmacose in 2017<br \/>\nwith producer Lu Rubino shortly after moving to Jacksonville to pursue new career opportunities. Rubino<br \/>\nis a veteran producer and bassist who has played with Paramore, Storyside B, and The Showdown.<br \/>\nAlbert Cruz, who has toured previously with A Flock of Seagulls, came on board to play drums and their<br \/>\nlineup was completed with the addition of Kevin Horne, writer and producer of Flynn, on lead guitar. In<br \/>\ncreating their current material, Jones, a medical doctor, decided to open up about his struggles with<br \/>\nbipolar disorder. Their music discusses such themes as reintegration to life in the wake of a manic<br \/>\nepisode, and the detrimental side effects of medication necessary to control the disorder. The group<br \/>\nhopes that in addressing these issues, they can raise awareness not just about bipolar disorder, but<br \/>\nmental health as a whole.<br \/>\nTheir first single, \u201cVictory at Wit\u2019s End,\u201d peaked # 34 on FMQB Sub Modern Rock Chart, with radio airplay<br \/>\nat Q104.3 New York City, WKQX Chicago, KTCL Denver, WAQX Syracuse, WEDG &amp;amp; WLKK Buffalo, and<br \/>\nmore. Their second single, \u201cChecked Out,\u201d has seen radio airplay at KPNT St. Louis, WAQX Syracuse,<br \/>\nWCYY Portland, ME, KJEE Santa Barbara, KFMG Des Moines, KACV Amarillo, KDRT Missoula, MT,<br \/>\nWCSF Joilet, IL, and WQRR Tuscaloosa. The video for \u201cChecked Out\u201d debuted February 4, 2020, on<br \/>\nPure Grain Audio. It was directed by Kurt St. Thomas, a veteran music video director and former record<br \/>\nlabel A&amp;amp;R exec, media exec and radio DJ, credited with being the first in America to play Nirvana\u2019s<br \/>\nNevermind on the radio.<br \/>\nTheir latest EP, Prescription Fiction, Part 1, is available on all streaming outlets on 5\/1\/2020.
