My name is David Stone. I’m a singer\/songwriter and musician, based in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. I’ve been writing, recording and gigging for a little over a decade, and recently released a new song called “Running Downhill” that I’m really excited to share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Running Downhill” is a song about looking back on the freedom of youth with a sort of heavy-hearted fondness. The opening imagery is of my Grandparents street, leading up to their house. It’s a house that was a third home to my sister and I growing up. A couple years back my Grandfather passed away, and it’s just my Grandmother living there now. I visit as often as I can, to help out with things, and give her some company. There’s talk of her selling the place now, with the work-load of her 40+ year home becoming more than she can handle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’ve written a lot from the perspective of an adult revisiting important places from childhood, and that’s basically what this song’s about. It’s about figuratively and literally standing in the place I stood as a kid and taking comfort in remembering the happiness I found there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I think everyone has those places, even if they’re only memories. When we close our eyes, we can visit those people, places and feelings we’ve kept safely tucked away in some part of ourselves, and that’s what the song’s basically about. I hope you find some comfort in it, and enjoy “Running Downhill”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
