Her new EP \u201cDear 2020\u201d is her reflection on the past year.\u00a0The global situation has intensified feelings and problems for people around the world, and the same way for TriXstar.\u00a0With \u201cDear 2020\u201d she tries to express her very own experience.\u00a0She doesn’t talk directly about the obvious topic, while still dealing with the effects.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
2020 was a year full of highs and lows.\u00a0It started with her first CD release \u201c#TrixStylez\u201d including her promo tour with ten shows in Jamaica, just to find her European tour canceled after her return.\u00a0Still, she managed to make use of the time.\u00a0With a remix competition, new music, and video material shot in Jamaica she kept the link to her fans.\u00a0Nonetheless, the situation with limited options triggered a process of self-reflection on priorities in life, that are processed on this new EP.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
The opener \u201cLove\u201d is a love song, dedicated to the universal love, the best friend, your sister, or your partner – the one person who lets you smile and make you stand up in the morning, the one you care about.\u00a0\u201cYou\u201d, the second song on the EP, is based on a true story she experienced in Kingston in early 2020, where she tried to help after a car accident and was confronted with the harsh reality of inequality and the lack of knowledge about first aid in Jamaica.\u00a0In general, self-care and care for others are two topics you can find in all songs of the EP.\u00a0\u201cOwn Way\u201d and \u201cSmile\u201d are two songs reasoning about the way you go in your life.\u00a0\u201cIt’s hard to find your own way, but all the steps on the way, even the so-called mistakes, are important to form the person that you are today.\u00a0So, don’t let anyone tell you, what you have to do,\u00a0you’re beautiful the way you are “.\u00a0And even \u201cSatisfy Me\u201d, a song about breaking up a toxic relationship, is strongly about self-care, and about what’s good and what’s bad for you.\u00a0Finally, \u201cWonders\u201d is the closing song of the EP.\u00a0It takes the listener on a journey through the wonders of life.\u00a0“Make sure not to take anything for granted, but enjoy the wonderful things in life to the fullest.”<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
\u201cDear 2020\u201d is a huge step for TriXstar and marks the beginning of a new era in her career.\u00a0Both musically and lyrically it’s a grown-up release, with reflective and authentic songs, that are musically versatile.\u00a0The instrumentals are strongly rooted in Jamaican music culture, yet still adding the extra spice with additional bridges, synths, and textures.\u00a0The EP was produced in collaboration with Jon Moon and Yutman Records, with most instrumentals being played by musicians from The Evolution (the band of reggae superstar Gentleman).\u00a0Definitely, a release not to miss, that will make a mark on the international reggae scene.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
