Please let me know if you have any questions, etc. Thanks!

Wilson Getchell, the front man of the eclectic rock band Thirsty Curses, will release his debut solo EP, This To That, on Thursday, October 12th. Consisting of five songs, This To That showcases Getchell’s songwriting talents and musical versatility, as Getchell explores new sounds and instrumentation untapped in his earlier Thirsty Curses work. As Getchell noted, “…with all the Thirsty Curses releases, there’s typically been a focus on recording the songs in the same way we would perform them live. With this project, I was able to throw those concerns out the window and just do whatever I wanted.”

Getchell, who plays guitar and keyboards in Thirsty Curses, performed all of the instruments on This To That , with the exception of guest appearances by Jason Froeber (saxophone on “This Just Might Take Some Time” and “Trauma Queen”), Tee Corbett (trumpet on “Brand New Nintendo”), and Lodge McCammon (cello and bass guitar on “Are You Still There?”).

This To That opens with the puerile and playful coming of age tune, “Brand New Nintendo,” in which Getchell humorously retraces his life’s missteps, and ponders the resulting twists and turns. It’s followed by the Pavement-esque “This Just Might Take Some Time”, a cathartic post-breakup anthem with a banging saxophone solo, and then the toe-tapper “Trauma Queen”. The EP is rounded out by the existential crisis themed “Fifty Straight Nights,” and the ballad “Are You Still There?”, an orchestral-ish rearrangement of a tune which previously appeared on Thirsty Curses’ To The Ends of The Earth (2022).

Wilson Getchell
703-314-9410
www.thirstycurses.com

Wilson’s Socials:
Facebook Instagram Spotify
TikTok YouTube Twitter

PRESS for This To That
“Wilson Getchell’s beaten and bedraggled mid-tempo tales kick up their share of dust” -The Big Takeover
“This To That is a great EP that above all else displays some very solid songwriting. Each track presents a unique facet of Getchell’s creative vision, resulting in a collection that is cohesive and enjoyable. See for yourself!” –Pitch Perfect

“The five songs on the record showcase Getchell’s songwriting talents and musical versatility as they run the spectrum from seriously sophisticated (“This Just Might Take Some Time”) to courageously silly songcraft (“Brand New Nintendo”) all backed by a meaningful expert musical palette complete with sultry sax and passionate piano. You’re going wanting to pay attention to this one!!!” –Rockin’ Rich Lynch

‘Trauma Queen’ is a majestic, swinging cabaret-like track with a charming uptempo tone and toe-tapping energy. The beautiful instrumentation, featuring sparkling keys and a deep, resilient sax, add a rich backdrop to the lush, harmonious tone of the vocals. It’s a captivating little ditty that draws influence from contemporary folk while incorporating 50’s swing and hints of classic rock rawness. –ClickRollBoom

My band Thirsty Curses (Raleigh) is still active and working on new material, but I put these recordings together on my own during a short TC hiatus earlier this year.
