Founded by guitarist Kim Simmonds, Savoy Brown included Foghat’s former lead singer Lonesome Dave Peverett and between 1968 and 1970 this legendary line-up recorded five albums. At the dawn of the ‘70’s, Roger and Dave left Savoy Brown to form Foghat along with slide guitarist Rod Price, and they went on to chart topping, multi gold and platinum record sales and sell-out concerts across America and beyond.

.

While Foghat remains as active as ever, constantly touring and recording, Roger and current Foghat guitarist Bryan Bassett teamed up with guitarist/singer Scott Holt in 2015. They hit it off musically and personally and began to write and record just for fun!

.

Scott began his professional musical journey at 19 when he met and was mentored by his friend BUDDY GUY and he spent the next 10 years playing guitar for the Grammy winning legend. Scott’s tenure with Buddy Guy established him as an incredible guitarist, a rich, soulful singer, performer and storyteller in his own right. And any time Buddy and Scott are in the same area, Buddy always invites his friend up to play and it is something to see!

.

The actual band began as an audio-engineering graduation project at Dark Horse Institute in Nashville. It turned into an opportunity for Roger Earl and Bryan Bassett to record with their (by then) good friend Scott Holt who also happened to be a special guest on Foghat’s 2016 album “Under the Influence”.

.
Working with the students and staff at Dark Horse was a unique and inspiring experience. Their enthusiasm was contagious and the result was 6 great tracks including 3 original recordings. This gave birth to “EARL & THE AGITATORS”.

.

They threw in Foghat bassist Rodney O’Quinn and made their debut on the Rock Legends IV Cruise in January 24, 2016 and have since done a bunch of shows together (many of them opening for Foghat and other bands). They also enlisted guitarist Tony Bullard and percussionist Mark Petrocelli, and on occasion other musicians such as Pittsburgh Blues slide guitarist Matt Barranti to continue the fun!
