Lockjaw Roars Back with Defiant Anthem “We Won’t Back Down” — Texas Metal Warriors Refuse to Be Silenced

By Jiggy Jaguar, Music Journalist for The Mic at KJAGradio.com

In an era where so many bands play it safe, Texas metal veterans Lockjaw are swinging for the fences. Their brand-new single “We Won’t Back Down” is out now, and it’s exactly the fist-pumping, chest-thumping war cry the metal scene needs right now. If you’re tired of empty promises, government overreach, and cultural division, this track will hit you like a breakdown in the pit.

The Fort Worth-based band has been grinding since 1998, and this latest chapter feels like their most focused and ferocious yet. “We Won’t Back Down” delivers massive guitars, thunderous drums, soaring choruses, and lyrics that call out deception while rallying strength and resilience. It’s the kind of song that demands to be blasted in the truck, at the gym, or right before you march into whatever battle you’re facing that day.

Texas Metal Veterans LOCKJAW Strike Back — New Single “We Won’t Back Down” Out Now

Fort Worth, TX – December 4, 2025 – Texas metal warriors Lockjaw are back in full force. Their highly anticipated new single, “We Won’t Back Down,” is officially out now, delivering a fist-raising anthem built for anyone tired of lies, corruption, and division.

Musically, the track hits hard with massive guitars, thunderous drums, and soaring choruses, while lyrically it calls out deception, rallies strength, and refuses to be silenced.

“The song is an anthemic war cry against the lies we’ve been told by our own government — the one we’re supposed to trust,” says guitarist Jeff Ogle. “It’s about standing your ground, calling out corruption, and refusing to back down.”

Lockjaw are also kicking off the Everything is Heavier in Texas Tour today, joining Upon A Burning Body as special guests, with support from The Browning and local acts in each city. The tour launches tonight in San Antonio, TX @ Vibes Underground, promising a full-throttle Texas metal takeover.

The band is thrilled to welcome Alex Hamp (War of Ages) as their new drummer. Jeff Ogle adds, “Having Alex behind the kit has been a game changer. The chemistry clicked right away — it feels like he’s been part of Lockjaw from day one.”

Lockjaw Lineup:

  • Jeff Ogle – Guitar
  • Joe Ortiz – Vocals
  • Gabriel Ayala – Bass
  • Scott Letz – Drums
  • Justin Paul – Lead Guitar

Straight Talk from Jeff Ogle: Honesty, Intensity, and That Classic Lockjaw Fire

I caught up with guitarist (and driving force) Jeff Ogle for the inside scoop on the new single and where Lockjaw stands in 2026. His answers are raw, real, and full of the same conviction that fuels the music.

On the band’s identity heading into this new chapter: “Lockjaw has always been about honesty and intensity. We’ve never chased trends or tried to be something we’re not. We’re just five guys who love heavy music and believe it should make you feel something. We’ve been doing this since 1998, and if anything, we’re more focused and more determined now than we’ve ever been. This isn’t a comeback—it feels like we’re finally becoming the band we’ve always envisioned.”

The spark behind “We Won’t Back Down”? “It felt like they came from seeing so much division, corruption, manipulation, and people feeling like they don’t have a voice anymore. The song isn’t about one political party or one event—it’s about refusing to be intimidated or silenced. It’s about standing your ground, standing for what you believe in, and refusing to quit regardless of what you’re facing.”

Musically and emotionally, this single represents a peak for the band. “I think this is the most complete version of Lockjaw. The songs are heavier, the melodies are stronger, and we’ve learned how to write songs that hit emotionally without losing the aggression… We’ve also learned how to become recording artists instead of just writing songs to jam live.”

Ogle describes the track as an “anthemic war cry,” and to him that means unity and conviction: “A war cry isn’t about hate—it’s about conviction. It’s about looking the people beside you in the eye and saying, ‘We’re not giving up.’ I wanted people to hear this song and feel stronger when it’s over than they did when it started.”

Production, Live Energy, and the Road Ahead

Working with producer Chris Collier (“The Wizard”) pushed the band to new heights. They balanced raw intensity with anthemic hooks without compromise, letting the song itself dictate the final sound. No egos — just the best possible version of Lockjaw.

The live show remains the heartbeat of the band. Their run on the Everything Is Heavier in Texas Tour with Upon A Burning Body and The Browning proved they can win over new fans while delivering for the die-hards. Post-show, the band makes it a point to hit the merch table, sign posters, take photos, and actually talk to the people who support them.

“Anyone who’s ever been knocked down and decided to get back up” — that’s the ideal Lockjaw listener, according to Ogle. Military personnel, gym warriors, everyday fighters chasing adrenaline and refusing to quit.

In one sentence, this era of Lockjaw is: “This is the strongest, most focused, and most determined version of Lockjaw we’ve ever been.”

Looking ahead, the band crushed a special “Metal Meets Outlaw Country” show with Cody Jinks in Dallas and is now deep in the studio with Chris Collier for a full new album. Expect them back on the road in early 2027 to support the release.
