Second Single from L.A. Supergroup
Featuring Members of GayC/DC and Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 7, 2022) –
When Brian Welch (GayC/DC) and Frank Meyer (The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, Eddie Spaghetti, Sweet Justice) were talking in 2020 about the state of the world, little did they know that a band was about to be formed. Their shared frustration at the world around them, the pandemic, the riots, the marches, the political unrest soon manifested into a creative outlet. Welch soon brought in his GayC/DC bandmates — bassist/producer Chris Freeman (Pansy Division) and lead guitarist Steve McKnight (Cry Wolf) — to round out a classic hard rock band. The second single “It’s All Lies” is the follow-up to the band’s debut “Triggered” and serves as another statement from a band that won’t keep quiet.
“I had a demo for a song I was working on that had cool musical idea, but I wasn’t crazy about the lyrics, so I gave it to Chris, who gave the whole thing a new arrangement,” says Meyer of the song’s origins. “Then Steve came in and added all the cool sounding guitar and blazing leads, and — BOOM! — another Doberman masterpiece.”
“This was a song that Frank had given to me to work out new lyrics,” concurs Freeman. “At the time it was called ‘Shoot The Moon,’ and was about a breakup, but with a dark streak. The music was complete, Frank had recorded a full demo, but I thought the chorus could be beefed up a bit, perhaps a new melody line.”
As for the lyrical inspiration for the new take on the song, says Chris: “At first I didn’t know what the song was going to be about and was just playing with words to see what might stick, but soon I changed my focus and asked myself some questions about things that were on my mind. The biggest one that came up was the truth. It’s in short supply these days, and what’s left has been corrupted by those who have power or money. So, finding the subject wasn’t hard once I refocused. My subject was an obvious choice and an ample source for digs. It practically wrote itself from there. And I realized through the process of writing the lyrics just how angry I am inside for the incessant lying going on around us.”
Hailing from Los Angeles, The Dobermen were set upon the world in 2021 with the debut single “Triggered.” This year, the band’s sights are set on new songs and an E.P. release.
