But those experiences taught me a lot about independence. It’s about figuring out who you are, what matters, and how to keep moving forward. “Day By Day” is kind of a reflection of those lessons.

I think right now a lot of people are feeling the weight of always being on the go and constantly trying to keep up and do more. Sometimes people forget that it’s ok to just slow down and focus on the present. “Day By Day” is a reminder to take a step back, breathe, and handle things one moment at a time, especially with everything going on in the world.
3. Songwriting as Therapy
You’ve said life hasn’t always been easy, and you channel those struggles into music. How does writing and singing these songs help you (and hopefully others) heal?
Writing and singing has always been my way of working through the tough stuff. When life is challenging putting those feelings into music helps me process everything. It’s kind of like therapy for me. I’ve been through my share of struggles, and I hope when people hear these songs, they feel less alone. If they can find some comfort in my music, then I feel like I’m doing my part.

For me Southern authenticity isn’t about limiting who the music speaks to, it’s about telling the truth in a real, grounded way. I grew up around people who worked hard, kept the faith, and pushed through no matter what. So, whether you’re from a small town in South Carolina or a big city across the world, we all face struggles and the need to keep going. The message in “Day By Day” is for anyone who’s ever needed a reason to get back up.

How did this song come together? Was it a sudden burst of inspiration, or did it evolve over time with co-writers/producers?
Yeah, it was kind of a burst of inspiration. It was one of those moments where I just needed to get my thoughts out. I sat down one night and felt like I had to put everything I was feeling into a song – the message of not giving up even when things get tough. It wasn’t forced, it was more like I just had to let it out. That feeling of “keep going” really needed to be said, and “Day By Day” is how I got it off my chest.

Dawn DeJongh called you “a diamond in the rough” in country music. What do you think sets you apart in a crowded industry?
I think what sets me apart is that I’m not chasing trends. I write about real life and real lessons. My songs come from personal experiences – the highs, the mistakes, the growth. I’m not trying to fit into what’s popular right now. I just want to tell the truth in a way people can feel.

You grew up racing dirtbikes and hustling at pool tables—when did music shift from a passion to a purpose?
It really shifted when I got tired of just playing other people’s songs. I realized I had my own stories to tell, things I’d lived through, lessons I’d learned, and I wanted people to hear my voice, not just my version of someone else’s. I wanted to prove that what I had to say mattered, and that there were others out there who might need to hear it.

Yes, they have. It’s honestly been one of the most powerful parts of putting my music out there. It made me realize that my voice, and the things I’ve been through actually mean something to other people too.

Right now, I’m just taking it day by day, kind of like my newest song says. I’ve written a lot of music, but for the moment, I’m focused on putting out singles and letting each one have its moment. I’m not rushing into a full project just yet. I want to build it the right way, one song at a time.

Life doesn’t slow down, so you’ve got to keep moving. Don’t get stuck in the things you can’t control. It’s ok to feel what you’re feeling, but don’t let it pull you under. Focus on what you can do and keep pushing forward, that’s how you make it through.
