INTERVIEW SEGMENT

Q: For people just discovering you, give us the story—who are you and what do you do?
Rage Unfold: We are Rage Unfold – a virtual heavy metal band spanning 3 countries – Bulgaria, Germany and Australia! We formed the band in 2022 and our latest single, “Omen”, was released in February this year!

Q: What originally pulled you into this industry or creative space?
Rage Unfold: We formed the band by accident. The founders of the band – Bozhidar Popov – guitars, music and production and Marie-Louise Anastas – lyrics met by accident on a music platform where they exchanged ideas for songs. In 2022, we released our first song called “Chains”.

Q: Was there a specific moment where you realized, “this is what I’m meant to do”?
Rage Unfold: Yes, from the moment we started with music creation, for me (Bozhidar) personally, this has become my destiny and my goal in life.

Q: What are you working on right now that has you the most excited?
Rage Unfold: Currently, we are in the process of composing a new song. It is going to be a bit more different than our previous release. We will then promote it worldwide.

Q: Is there a current project that really represents who you are creatively at this moment?
Rage Unfold: This is the song that we are currently working on. It is called “Dislocated”. It will be a mixture of metal and rock.

Q: What makes this latest work different from what you’ve done before?
Rage Unfold: Our latest song differs from the rest in terms of style and composition. The tempo is faster; it is also a mix of progressive metal and heavy metal. There are different time signatures that determine the rhythm of the song, which makes it more interesting to the listener.

Q: Walk me through your process—how does an idea go from concept to finished product?
Rage Unfold: Marie-Louise sends me a bunch of lyrics to choose from. Then, I pick the most suitable one and start working on the composition of the song. When I’m done with the musical part, I compose the vocal melody, and then I send everything to our vocalist – Siegfried Schüßler, who is located in Germany, to record the vocals. After that, I mix and master the song.

Q: Are you more structured in your approach, or do you thrive in chaos and spontaneity?
Rage Unfold: I have a very structured approach towards each song. This helps me in the creative process and I also manage to fully polish every aspect of the track down to the last detail.

Q: What’s the hardest part of bringing your ideas to life?
Rage Unfold: The need for inspiration, but usually that happens quite often and fast.

Q: Who or what has influenced your style the most over the years?
Rage Unfold: Bands like Dio, Metallica, Manowar, AC/DC and many more.

Q: How would you describe your sound to someone hearing about you for the first time?
Rage Unfold: We are a progressive metal band. Our style embraces the typical heavy metal sound with added modern metal elements.

Q: Do you feel like you fit into a category, or are you intentionally breaking the mold?
Rage Unfold: We try to be different than other metal bands, but as stated above, we’re more into the progressive metal style.

Q: What’s been one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced so far?
Rage Unfold: To compose all the songs from a distance – that’s not an easy job, but we did fantastic!

Q: What have you learned through the ups and downs?
Rage Unfold: It might sound like a cliché, but you should never ever stop and never give up. You never know what might happen tomorrow, so keep it going and maybe one day we might be lucky and succeed.

Q: What kind of connection do you want with your audience?
Rage Unfold: A true connection. The lyrics of our music are deep and emotional, also quite intelligent, so we try to connect with our audience through our music in an authentic way and help them overcome the obstacles in life.

Q: What does support from fans mean to you?
Rage Unfold: It means the world to us, as you see that your music has attracted the attention of others, which means that you are on the right path.

Q: What’s your take on where the music industry is headed?
Rage Unfold: With today’s technology, the music industry develops quite fast, and it allows you to promote your songs in a faster, more efficient way. If you want to succeed – you have to remain positive despite all the challenges, so in conclusion I would say that the industry is going in the right direction.

Q: What do people get wrong about what you do?
Rage Unfold: Many think that we are actually a real band with 4 or 5 members, but the truth is that we have never met each other and, for now, we’re working from a distance, which is remarkable.

Q: What advice would you give to someone trying to follow a similar path?
Rage Unfold: Follow your instinct and never give up on your dreams. One day it will happen!

Q: What’s next for Rage Unfold?
Rage Unfold: Our next song is “Dislocated”. Stay tuned, we will release it by the end of this year!

Q: Final message to the audience?
Rage Unfold: Thanks for reading this interview. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and if so, please subscribe to our channels for more interesting content!
